Bhakti movement is a religious movement of Hindu religion in which devotees   to get involved in spiritual practice.

During the period from 10th to 12th centuries, Chola and the Pandyas erected several temples around the shrines.

Saints, poets and priests came to these shrines and carried out Bhakti practices and sang songs devoted.

All this encouraged temple worship and led to Bhakti movement.
