Position of hydrogen is not satisfactory, it can be placed either in group I or 17 group of the first period. It fails to accommodate lathanides and actinides in the main body of the periodic table.

Two demerits of Modern periodic table :
Hydrogen resembles both the alkali metals and halogens , But it has been placed with the alkali metals.
The lanthanides and actinides have not been placed in the in the main body of the table
