An Element is a chemical substance that has a quantifiable atomic mass and cannot be broken down into two other compounds. This is called a pure substance. e.g. Gold, Hydrogen, Neon.

A Mixture, not to be confused with a Compound, is simply a physical combination of two elements or compounds. There is no reaction involved and thus a mixture is different from a compound. e.g. iron+sulphur, apples+mangoes!
