state the difference between transport of materials in xylem and phloem. in about 50 words.

Xylem transports water and minerals whereas phloem transports food.

Xylem transportation is unidirctional. As water is absorbed by root hairs and from that it is transported to different parts of plant body i.e. from down to up.

Phloem transportation is bidirectional as the foods are prepared in the leaf and from there it is transported to differen parts of body eg to roots and also to the tip of plant.

2. Conduction of water and minerals takes place through xylem vessels and tracheids .

Phloem :-

1. Transport of food occurs in leaves to other parts of plant.
