Evaporation :

It is a process in which a liquid changes into its vapour at a temperature below its boiling point.Evaporation is a surface phenomenona i.e. it takes place at the surface of Liquid.

Factors on which rate of evaporation depends :

Nature of Liquid :

Some liquids evaporate faster than others. So , evaporation depe ds on the nature of liquid.

Temperature :

Rate of evaporation increases with the increase in temperature. This is because with the temperature, kinetic energy of the particles increases so more particles get enough energy to pass into vapour state.

Surface Area :

More the surface area, more will be the evaporation.

Humidity of Air :

The amount of water vapour present in air is represented by a term called Humidity. When Humidity is lower than evaporation is faster. As air can take up more water vapours so evaporation will be more.

Wind Speed :

Rate of evaporation increases with the increase in Wind Speed. So, when the wind is blowing fast evaporation increases.
