Red soil - It is developed on crystalline igneous rocks in areas of low rainfall in the Eastern and Southern part of the Deccan Plateau. It is mostly found in state of Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Southern part.

Yellow Soil - It is formed due to diffusion of iron in crystalline and metamorphic rock.When it is in hydrated form it appears yellow. It is found in Orissa, Chhattisgarh, along the ganga plains, and in piedmont zone in western ghats.
