The first law of motion is
When the body is in rest it wants to be rest, when it is in motion it continuous in motion

" An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."


this law states that a body will always be at rest only if no outer force acts on it.
an external force should be acting upon an object to move it from rest or to make it at rest.
this law is also called as the law of  inertia
