1) Electrovalent /ionic compound is formed. ii) In the oxide M2O, the valency of Oxygen is (-2) and the valency of M (+1). Since M is metal then, it has 1 electron in the outermost shell. iii) Since M has one electron in outermost shell then, M belong to alkali metal group i.e, group =1.

2) According to Bohr Bury Scheme, the electronic distribution in the first four shells is: K(2), L(8), M(18), N(8).

3) The element 'M' belongs to group 1 because the number of electron in the outer shell is 1. (iii) M is a metal. (iv) Valency of M is 1 and Cl is 1.
