Blood cells, red and white, are made in bone marrow. Plasma is 90 percent water but contains dissolved substances such as hormones, electrolytes, vitamins and proteins

• Blood transports oxygen, nutrients ,hormones etc. to every part of the body.

• It collects wastes from every part of the body.

• It helps in thermoregulation ,water balance and maintenance of pH of body.

• RBCs help in the transport of respiratory gases from lungs to tissues and back.

• WBCs are the soldiers of our body.
They help to fight disease by engulfing and destroying foreign bodies by producing antibodies and antitoxins.

• Blood platelets help in the clotting of blood at the site of the injury.
