State the functions of the following in the cloning vector pBR322 :
(i) Ori, (ii) rop, and (iii) Hind III sites
Answers
Answer:
You can get it in Google.
Functions are given below-
Vectors are the molecules that carry foreign genetic material into an organism. pBR322 is a plasmid vector.
(i) Ori
Ori is a site present on DNA molecules where components of DNA replication machinery binds. Binding with this site starts the replication of DNA or genetic material and hence it is important site for replication.
(ii) rop
ROP refers to repressor of primer. It a protein which binds to RNA and is homodimeric in nature. It regulates the number of plasmids formed thus controlling it's replication.
(iii) Hind III sites
These are specific endonuclease sites where Hind III enzyme cleaves the DNA. These sites after being cleaved are joined by foreign genetic material to be transferred to the organism.
