State the importance of bhakti saints in reforming and uniting the Indian society
Answers
What is the importance of bhakti movement in the history of India?
The importance of Bhakti Movement in India was its newly laid social responsibilities which helped our society. The main theme was
God is one (Shaivism and Vaishnavism worked together)
To worship God man should serve humanity (The belief that we can find god, by serving a fellow human)
All men are equal ( A strong sense of brotherhood with a belief that all humans are created equal irrespective of their birth and region)
Worshiping God with devotion is better than performing religious ceremonies and going on pilgrimages. (Love for god, devotion for mankind were considered as greater good than mere rituals)
Caste distinctions and superstitious practices are to be given up (Caste and Superstitious practices were demolished by Bhakti Movement religious leaders)
There are 100s and 1000s of spiritual and religious leaders in all the provinces of India who had unilaterally contributed to bind our heterogeneous and diverse society into a common fold, which made India great as “Unity in Diversity”
Hope this helps you
