the law of conservation of momentum states that when two or more bodies collides their total momentum after collision is always equal to the total momentum before collision.i.e their total momentum remains constant ( or conserved ) provided no external forces are acting. m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2.

Law of conservation of momentum states that the total momentum of a system remains same unless an external force acts on it.
Or in other words, when there is no external force, for a collision occurring between 2 or more objects, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects after the collision.
Mathematically, if an object of mass 'M' moving with velocity 'u' collides with another object of mass 'm' moving with velocity 'v'; and as a result, velocity of mass 'M' becomes u" and velocity of mass 'm' becomes v", then
Mu + mv = Mu" + mv"
