Here is the answer for your question

Law of equipartition is

the theorem of equipartition of energy states that molecules in thermal equilibrium have the same average energy associated with each independent degree of freedom of their motion

f/2 nRT

Internal energy

The internal energy of a system can be changed by transfers of matter or heat or by doing work

Monoatomic gases

monatomic is a combination of the words "mono" and "atomic", and means "single atom". It is usually applied to gases: a monatomic gas is one in which atoms are not bound to each other. All chemical elements will be monatomic in the gas phase at sufficiently high temperatures. The thermodynamic behavior of monatomic gas is extremely simple when compared to polyatomic gases because it is free of any rotational or vibrational energy.

Diatomic gases

Diatomic molecules are molecules composed of only two atoms, of the same or different chemical elements.

Triatomic gases

Any gaseous substance wherein the individual molecules are comprised of three atoms is considered to be a tri-atomic gas. Usually, the three atoms are to be the same. However, technical definition of triatomic gas does not specify that the three atoms have to be the same. best example is ozone 03
