Ahoy !

We can use the law of equipartion of energy to determine specific heat of solids .

Consider one gram mole of the lead contaning Na atoms .

Each atom vibrates about its mean position . According to the law of equiparrition energy , avg energy associated with atom due to its oscillation in one dimension
= 2Γ— 1/2 x kbT
avg energy = 3 x kb x T
Total energy of one gram mole
U = 3 x kb x T x Na
= 3 RT

Acc to firsr law of thermo

dQ = dU + dW
= dU + PdV

For solids dV is negligible
dQ = dU

C = dQ / dT

C = dU / dT

dQ= 4.184 J

dT = 1 C
C= 4.184 / 1

Now The Value of the specific heat of the Pb = 4.184 J/ gC

May it helps you ^ _ ^
