Kinetic friction's magnitude is always less than or equal to that of the magnitude of the maximum static friction. 3) Rolling Friction:- This state of friction is applied between two objects when at least one of the objects undergo rolling motion. Rolling friction is always applied in the opposite direction of the relative motion. So in this case too the friction is applied in the opposite direction to the rotation. Thus the friction is applied in the same direction as the motion of the rolling object. (Only in real scenario there is a depression in the object thus there is a friction applied in the opposite direction to the direction of motion.
