According to law of conservation matter can neither be created nor be destroyed it can only be converted from one form to another i.e. the total mass of reactants before a chemical reaction and the total mass of products after a reaction will always remain same .

For example-

here mass of C is 12g , mass of O2 is 32g . Hence total mass of products will be 12g+32g=44g which is equal to the mass of CO2 i.e.44g
