mandeleef had arranged element in the periodic table on the basis of increasing atomic weight but moseley modified mandeleef 's periodic table and stated that the basis of classification of elements be according to increasing atomic number and not atomic weight since physical and chemical properties of elements depends on the number of electrons and their arrangement.
