(You form and bake electrodes from something like a dough of coal and tar, which is then baked into graphite.) In certain applications like the making of steel, carbon is a necessary component of the process, so Graphite is not a foreign substance that introduces impurities.

bcoz graphite is a good conductor of electricity even though it is allotrope of carbon
