Relation between momentum andkinetic energy. Note that if a massive particle and a light particle have the same momentum, the light one will have a lot more kinetic energy. If a light particle and a heavy one have the same velocity, the heavy one has morekinetic energy.

◆ Relation between momentum and kinetic energy-
Consider a body with mass m moving with velocity v,
Linear momentum
P = mv

Kinetic energy is given by
KE = 1/2 mv^2
KE = 1/2 (mv)^2/m
KE = 1/2 P^2/m

Assuming mass is constant, kinetic energy is directly proportional to square of linear momentum.
