In case of photosynthesis, sunlight is important because it is the only source of energy that plants require for the purpose of photosynthesis. On the other hand the chlorophyll present in the leaves of the plants help to absorb the energy supplied by sunlight. Without chlorophyll the plants cannot absorb sunlight. Chlorophyll actually absorbs the blue part of the electromagnetic spectrum and then the red spectrum of the sunlight the most actively.

During Photosynthesis , Sunlight is important because it provides the energy needed for Photosynthesis . And in the other hand Chlorophyll is also important because chlorophyll present in the leave is the green pigment which gives them green colour. This pigment traps the energy of the sun for the processes of photosynthesis which takes place in the side of Chloroplast, present inside the chlorophyll.
