The second law of thermodynamics as explained by both-


The Kelvin-Planck Statement:


It is not possible to manufacture a device that has no other function other than transferring heat from one body and also works on a cycle.


The Clausius Statement:


It is not possible to create a device that has only the function of transferring heat from a cold body to a hot body and also works on a cycle.


It is noteworthy that both the statements given above of the Second Law of Thermodynamics are equivalent.


The fact that they are equivalent is shown using a self- explanatory diagram given below.
