Answer:

          The Nij system or Nij farming was one of Indigo's main systems of farming. In this farming, the employer produced indigo on land controlled by him or land rented from landlords. Plant had hired the laborers, but it was difficult for Indigo Plantation to keep a large number of laborers, and it proved to be an expensive process of farming.

The problems of NIJ cultivations are as follows;

  • NIJ cultivation was against the will of peasants.
  • The peasants wanted to grow other crop rather than indigo .
  • Infertile land .
  • Only small plots scattered on the landscape can be reacquired .
  • The cultivation of indigo was not profitable for peasants.
