PIL (public intrest litigation) is a mechanism devised by the supreme court of india in the early 1980s to increse access to justice. Under this mechanism individual or a organisation is allowed to file a PIL in the high or supreme Court on behelf of those whose righrs are being violated. The legal procedure involved in it is very simple . Even the ketter or a telegram acts as a PIL.
