The Law of gravitation was given by Sir Isaac Newton..
This Newtons law basically tells how much attraction (in terms of force) is between 2 bodies of mass m1 and mass m2 at distance r.
Along with the laws of motion (also from Newton), this allowed us to accurately predict the motions of objects in space. Planets, moons, satellite motions, distant stars. Allowed us to send rockets to space, Apollo missions, moon landing, communication satellites, ...etc
It is applicable for every mass in this universe..
