The term is deliquescence.

• There are many chemical compounds which can actively absorb moisture from it's surroundings. These chemical compounds are known as the hygroscopic compounds.

• Now,there are many hygroscopic chemical compounds which have extremely high amount of water absorbing capabilities and with the help of the absorbed water they turn into aqueous solution.

• This property of absorbing water and turning into aqueous solution,is known as the deliquescence.
