Universal law of gravitation states that force of gravitation between any two objects is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of distance between their centres.

derivation :
F
f \infty m1 \times  m2
f \infty 1 \div   {d}^{2}
so,
f \infty m1 \times m2 \div  {r}^{2}
F=Gm1xm2/d^2
(where G is the universal gravitation constant whose value is 6.67x10^-11)
