The three condition under which slow combustion of material:

1. There is not enough supply of air to complete full combustion. The combustion takes place in the presence of air or oxygen. Now if the air is not sufficient enough to burn the entire substance, it is burns slowly.

2.  If the combustible substance is given at a very slow rate. For example when we light an agarbatti then the entire agarbatti is not in contact with the fire. As a result it burns of slowly.

3.  If ignition temperature is not present at all time.
