Differences between groundwater and surface water:

Groundwater:

  • Groundwater is the underground water that is obtained out of the ground with the help of wells and water pumps.
  • Groundwater contains the water that is soaked from the rain, melting snow. Groundwater is a pure water.
  • The dissolved minerals which it picks from underground but it still is less contaminated due to the rocks which act as filters.

  • Surface water could be easily found in lakes, ponds, rivers etc. for public use.
  • Surface carries a lot of contaminated things such as animal waste, industrial wastes, algae, etc.
  • Surface water can be easily drawn by humans and used by the animals as well whereas it takes time and effort to construct a well or install water pumps.
