Two effects of scattering of light are

  • Sky appears blue on a clear day
  • Twinkling of stars

Explanation:

When light travels from one medium to another it scatters in various directions. This phenomenon is called scattering of light. Scattering of light by the tiny particles is called Tyndall effect.

When Sunlight or the light from stars enters in our atmosphere the light with smaller wavelengths gets easily scattered while lights with longer wavelength do not scatter much and hence travels straight that’s why we see red color during sunset or sunrise. The blue color has shorter wavelength hence it is scattered all over the sky.
