Khushwant Singh's grandmother was a person of strong character she was a religious lady she and the author were intimate friends. when the author went to the university for higher studies she accepted her seclusion with resignation .She was a strong woman with strong beliefs.  Though she was not formally educated but still she helped her grandson a lot in study. she was a religious lady too. her hands were always busy in telling the beads of her rosary. even before her death she faced the last moment fearlessly.
