Answer:

In magnetic separation the metal particles like iron fillings or anything that can be attracted by a magnet can be separated from a mixture containing the metal and the particles that cannot be attracted by a magnet

In other words , magnetic separation means removing particles of a substance that can be attracted by a magnet from the mixture containing the particles that cannot be attracted by a magnet

Explanation:

suppose you have a huge mixture of sand and iron in powdered form

now if you want to separate them you can easily do it by bringing a strong magnet closer to the mixture and the iron particles will stick to the magnet and the sand will be left behind

thus you have now separated both the sand and iron particles easily with the help of a magnet

this is known as magnetic separation

Sulphur particles just like sand cannot be attracted by a magnet as they do not have any magnetic properties

so by the same process the sulphur particles will be left behind and the iron particles will stick to the magnet

thus, both are separated!

Isn't it simple!
