state whether the following is true or false
1. The greater the mass of an object, the more it will accelerate when a given net force is applied to it.
2. A net force of 1 N applied to a mass of 1 kg results in an acceleration of 0.5 m/s^2
3. Your weight equals your mass multiplied by the acceleration due to gravity.
4. A 10-kg object has greater acceleration due to gravity than a 5-kg object.
5. The acceleration of an object equals its mass times the net force applied to it.
6. The acceleration of an object due to gravity depends on the object’s initial velocity.

Answer:

ANS 1=the greater the mass of an object, the more it will accelerate when a given net force is applied to it. ... Your weight equals your mass multiplied by the acceleration due to gravity. _____ 8. A 10-kg object has greater acceleration due to gravity than a 5-kg object.

ANS 2=suppose F is the NET force of 1 N and the mass (m) is 1 kg and theta equals 60 d.

The F (x) NET = F cos theta = 0.5 N

Then a (x) = 0.5 / 1 = 0.5 m/s/s; which is the condition in the question and therefore a PROBABLE answer.

This MAY be an acceptable solution because the question does NOT say if the acceleration is the NET acceleration. In this scenario, there would be a VERTICAL acceleration of 0.866 m/s/s and the vector sum of the two (x & y) accelerations would be 1 m/s/s
