Gender roles are the social and behavioral norms considered appropriate in social situations for people of different genders.[1] An understanding of these roles is evident in children as young as age 4[2] and are extremely important for their social development. Gender roles are influenced by the media, family, environment, and society. A child's understanding of gender roles impacts how they socialize with their peers and form relationships. Many young children have a firm sense of their gender identity, while some children can experience gender identity confusion. In addition to biological maturation, children develop within a set of gender-specific social and behavioral normsembedded in family structure, natural play patterns, close friendships, and the teeming social jungle of school life. The gender roles encountered in childhood play a large part in shaping an individual's self-concept and influence the way he or she forms relationships later on in life.

Yes, I agree to the stated question. Any child learns and evolves all the behavior he is getting from his surroundings and environments. The impact of gender discrimination is highly effect the influence and experience of any person. When one sees from childhood that he/she gets more or less priority on the basis of his/her sex, it gradually takes a deep effect in the minds.
These kind of inequality, sometimes even creates irritation, intolerance and grudge against the opposite sex.
