State which of the following chemical reaction takes place or not? Give suitable reason for it. 1. Zn + CuSO4 -------->ZnSo4+ Cu. 2. Fe + ZnSO4--------->FeSO4 + Zn. 3. Zn + FeSO4 --------> ZnSO4 + Fe

1. As SO2 is given out, it is a sulphide ore. We covert this ore into oxide and this is called roasting followed by reduction using carbon.
2. The two steps are:

(i) Roasting:2 MS + 3 O2 →HeatRoasting 2 MO + 2 SO2(ii) Reduction:2 MO + C →Smelting 2M + CO2

1 and 3 reaction will take place. When we see the reactivity series Zn is more reactive than iron and copper.so zinc displaces Cu from CuSO4 to form ZnSO4 and red deposit of copper.similar case is of FeSO4.But since iron is less reactive than Zn it cannot displace Zn from ZnSO4
