Answer is - c.

Statement 1 is true but statement 2 is false.

Statement 1

Thermonuclear bombs can be more devastating than the atomic bombs - true.

Thermonuclear bombs are also known as hydrogen bombs. They have enormous explosive power which is created when an uncontrolled, self-sustaining chain reaction takes place. Under extremely high temperatures the isotopes of hydrogen combine to form helium. This process is called nuclear fusion. They are more dangerous than atomic bombs.

Statement 2

The process of nuclear fusion is involved in atomic bomb - false.

The process of nuclear fission is involved in atomic bomb. In this reaction the atomic nucleus splits into fragments and emits hundred to several hundred million volts of energy which is expelled explosively.
