How to know which method to use to find mean? Please explain when all three methods [direct, assumed or steps derivation] are used?

when asumed mean is given then use the formula of( X bar = A+summation fx/N)*h
Here ( X bar is assumed mean, h= difference, N= total frequency)
When assumed mean is not given but class limit and frequency is given use the formula of
X bar = Summation Fx/summation F. Here X bar is the mean, f is the number of the occurrence, summation FX is the sum of the products fX, summation F is the number of the total occurrence.
