Steam produces more severe burns as compared to boiling water because water boils on hundred degree Celsius and when the temperature is increasing rapidly it converts into steam so steam has more temperature then boiling water that's why steam produces more burns than boiling water

Answer:

Steam causes more severe burn than boiling water.

Boiling water at 100°C changes into steam at 100°C absorbing latent heat of vaporisation. Due to this extra amount of heat steam causes more severe burns than boiling water although the two are at the same temperature.
