Those tubes ate transporting water food from root and leaves to whole plant. They have tissues termed as xylem and phloem which transport water and food respectively.

Stems have tubes. These tubes are present inside the stems. The tubes present inside the stems helps in the transportation of minerals, nutrients, water and synthesized food materials. For the transportation of these materials, not only the tubes are needed inside the stem, a specialised tissue is also needed and this tissue is namely known as xylem. This is only present in plants.
