Step-by-step explanation:

For a square let a be one of its side

If we draw a diaognal we get arigh angle triangle.

By using hyopyhenous theorm we get lengh of diognal= sqrt2*lengh of one side.

so by comparing the given question with the solution above

we get

(3-x)/sqrt2=sqrt2*1/2(x+1)

= on solving we get x+1=3-x

=2x=3-1

2x=2

x=1

Since x=1 side of square is 1/2*(x+1)

=1/2*(1+1)=1
