Sterling silver contains 95% silver. If a necklace made of sterling silver wieghs 15 grams what is the mass of silver dissolved in the necklace?

Given : Sterling silver contains 95% silver.

To find : The mass of silver dissolved in the necklace.

Let the x grams sterling silver contains 95% silver.

By unitary method,

x grams sterling silver contains 95% silver.

15 grams sterling silver contains = 95% of 15

= 95/(100 × 15) = 14.25 grams

Hence,

The mass of silver dissolved in the necklace = 14.25 grams
