This line "stop here, or gently pass"   is from the poem of William Wordsworth titled "The solitary reaper".

A solitary girl was in a field in some high lands. She was singing a sad song.  She was reaping in the field.  She was singing.  The author asked the people who pass by to stop there and listen to her song. Or, gently pass by without making noise, so as not to disturb her.
