"ADVENTURE OF THE NIGHT"
Sanjay pursues his bachelors in writing. He loves writing and at times he would stay awake all night unaware of the sleep because of the way he concentrates on his writing skills. He lives at the corner of the town close to the forest.
One fine night when he got onto his bed late after his work, he couldn’t fall asleep. Feeling so disturbed he got down from his bed, walked to the living room and opened the main door to breathe fresh breeze. Just like any other writer, he walked down into the yard to enjoy his privacy. The night seemed too dark. The only light he could see is the dim orange light ray that passed through his living room to the corridor. When he moved his eyes round and glanced around the surroundings, he could see a spotted mystical green light through the trees of the forest.
Now the enthusiastic young man needs to know what that mystic green light hides. He grabbed the lantern and his jacket. He started walking through the brown sand path and into the forest. He was in a thought that the green light could be quite close. He walked long towards the green light but he couldn’t reach the spot. After a while, the green light disappeared into the leaves. Sanjay hesitated but didn’t want to give up. Familiar with the forest and the direction of the green light, he moved forward. Now he is in the middle of the night and in the middle of the forest. He knew he was surrounded by the forest. He is definitely not afraid because he is aware that the forest had got no dangerous wild animals.
Through the leaves, he saw the light again. His mind overwhelmed like a winner. He thought, “I did it”. But he maintained the consistency of his patience. Through the paved way, he could find a wooden cottage. The wooden cottage seemed like quite an unused one. But to his surprise, he could find some jeeps parked in front of the cottage. The heartbeat unavoidably started speeding up. He still didn’t want to give up. He slowly walked near to the cottage. He headed close to the cottage. He could hear some odd murmurs and rumbling sounds. He moved closed and tried to peep through windows. He could see a group of men wearing no shirts. They were sitting around firewood lit up to the orange-yellow flame. Then to his surprise, he could see a very old witch-like woman chanting some spells. And then he confirmed about the scene. He understood it a performance of some witchcraft. Soon, the team started to enchant to the devil. The scene turned out to be horrific when they forced a chained young girl out of the bedroom. The old woman pulled a knife. They were ready for a human sacrifice.
Sanjay couldn’t utter a sound. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t move. He turned out to be wet with fear. His bones froze. He wanted to go back home safe. He missed his warm bed. Also, he wanted to save the girl. The girl was held tight. The witch was ready to slit her throat. His inner sense couldn’t balance anymore. Just without his knowledge, he shouted out loud, “No!”. The team turned to him with a force. Now so ready they are, to kill him.
He understood he cannot escape. Damn!! He was attacked.
Sanjay woke up with fright. He turned wet. His heartbeat was too fast. But he was on his bed. For a while, he couldn’t come back from his dream. Slowly, he gained back his conscious. He pulled the jar of water from his bed table. He sipped the water. He put his feet down. Rubbing his neck he walked out to the living room and switched on the light. He opened the door and walked to the corridor. He took a deep breath of the fresh cold breeze. He glanced around. He could see a mystical green light through the leaves of the forest!
