Macon hires Muriel Pritchett to train his dog. She is a quirky young woman with a sickly son, Alexander, and he discovers that he has struck up a bond with the two of them. Muriel is the opposite of Macon’s wife, Sarah, which is perhaps what attracts him to her. She is talkative, brash, much less ‘classy’, and is fond of wearing odd outfits. He is continuously astonished by Muriel’s insightfulness, strength and enthusiasm, as well as her peculiar habits and uncanny knack for listening. Macon has an innate love for the familiar, and this creates quite a struggle between the two of them.
Over time, Macon becomes attached to Muriel and her son, and, despite his misgivings, he moves in with them. When Sarah becomes aware of this situation, however, she decides to reconcile with him, and Macon is forced to make a difficult decision between two women he cares immensely about. He has to make daunting decisions about his future.
The novel ends ambiguously, allowing the reader to make a decision about which woman Macon chooses in the end.
Answer: The Accidental Tourist
The author was fully confused and treated very casually with everything. And he was impatient also. The author described that once he had looked a number of times for the lavatory in a cinema and found himself standing wrong side of the self-locking door. Another casualty was that he went to hotel desks or receptionist two or three time a day to ask his room number. He described another incident that his card of joining the British Airline was in his carry-on bag and the zip of the bag was jammed and when the author yanked the zip give away and broke. And then all the things fell down and spread over a big area. Then after sometimes he gashed his own finger on the zip and was shedding blood in a lavish manner. After all this the author was afraid of travelling. The author was also describing that once on an aeroplane, he leaned over to tie a shoelace just at that moment someone pushed him from back and he fell down. On another occasion he accidentally spread the soft drink onto the lap of the lady sitting beside him twice. The author explained his worst experience. His worst experience was that he was writing important thoughts in a notebook, he sucked the end of the pen and found his teeth, mouth, chin, gums and tongue became scrub resistant navy blue and remain so for several days. He also described about his casual approach that whenever he got in the car, he left 14 inches of his coat outside. And whenever he wore light colored trousers he discovered at the end of the day that various times he sat on chewing gum, ice cream, cough syrup and motor oil throughout the day.
After that, the author nor eat or drink anything or lean over to tie his shoelaces, during travelling neither put a pen anywhere near mouth and just sit very quietly and did not causes any liquid mischief. It only leaded to cut down the laundry bills.
The author also explained that he did not get his frequent flyer miles as he couldn’t get his card in time. He only accumulated about 23 in 212 air miles. And when he decided to go to get a zillion air miles in January on a flight to Australia, he felt to travel as his name was wrong. And the author did not get his air miles and won’t fly to Bali first class.
