Forest is an area with extreme density of trees is known as forest.

Forest is a system which is consists of plants, animals and microorganisms.

Forest as Habitat: Forest is a habitat for variety of living beings.

Different plants, animals, reptiles lives in the forest.

Typical tree forest is consists of two separate layers viz overstory (or canopy) and understory.

Branches of tree make its crown.

Crowns of many trees inside forest make a canopy.

Dense forests canopy looks like roof of forest.

Many animals and creatures which live on the canopy as monkeys.

Lower layer of forest is called understory.

It's composed of herbs and shrubs.

Under story will not get perfect sunlight in dense forests.

Every part of a forest contributes in making self-sustaining system.

Green plants makes food by photosynthesis.

Herbivores directly take food from green plants.

Carnivores takes food from herbivores.

This makes a food chain which can be depicted by an example:

                                  Grass → Deer → Lion

When an animal/plant dies its remains decompose in course of time and turn into soil.

Process is known as decomposition and microorganisms carry out that process.

Decomposition is a process by which raw materials are returned to nature.

Soil-like thing occur after decomposition is humus.

It makes soil very fertile.

Topsoil of forest is fertile due to humus fertilizer.

Forest in Preserving Environment: Forest plays significant role in maintaining environment.

Green plants take solar energy and converts into chemical energy while making food.

Solar energy is transferred to living beings through green plants.

Green plants uses carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and releases oxygen.

Forest plays a major role in satisfying our day-to-day needs.

We use many things in our everyday life which are made up of forest materials.

Forest provides a timer, rubber, wood, fuel, paper, and other commodities for industrial purposes.

Apart from these, the forest provides us with fruits, vegetables, oil, and other kitchen products.

Forests are called the ‘green lungs’ because trees play an important role in the process of respiration.

Trees in forest release oxygen through the process of photosynthesis and help in providing oxygen to animals for respiration.

Plants in return consume carbon dioxide released by the animals.

In this way, plants help in maintaining a balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Forest also acts as a natural absorber of water.

Because of the presence of trees, rainwater cannot hit the ground directly, rather hits the ground slowly.

Hence, before flooding, all the rainwater seeps through the ground. In this way, forests help to prevent floods.

Thus, it is very much necessary for us not to cut down forests for industrial use but to afforest maximum trees to save our planet from excess heat: Go Green, Breathe Clean, this saying should be kept in mind.
