Story on the topic peace hath her victory not less renowned than war
Answers
Milton wrote in a letter to Cromwell "peace hath her victories no less renowned than war." The line indeed carries a world of wisdom and truth. Victories of peace are won over disease, pain and suffering, over illiteracy, ignorance and superstition and over poverty, oppression and tyranny. Victories of peace involve no bloodshed. These bring happiness, comfort and relief to the whole humanity.
On the other hand, conquest of war causes untold suffering to human beings. The victory in war is achieved after a great loss of life and property. But those victories are forgotten by posterity very soon. Great conquerors like Alexander, Caeser, and Changez Khan won glorious victories in battle field but their acts of valor have faded into oblivion with the passage of time. Only the students of history memorize their conquest to pass the examination
But victories won by the great apostles of peace- Ashoka, Mahavira, Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Ghandi- are a source of inspiration for the people of the world even up to this day. They conquered the hearts of the people not with sword and guns but with love and sympathy.
It is only in the time pf peace that science and literature, art and architecture, commerce and education flourish. No poets can reach the highest flight of imagination when guns are booming. Thus peace has produced culture and enriched human civilization; victories of peace, no doubt, have brought comfort and happiness to countless people of the world.
In fact all great inventions of science were made when the world was at peace. It was only under peaceful conditions that the scientists and the doctors conquered disease and pain and remarkable discoveries in the field of medicine and surgery were effected.
Again, for social reforms, for spread of education and for political stability peace is essential.
