Hydrochloric acid is not advisable for cleaning metal sinks and pipes:

  • Being highly reactive and strong acid hydrochloric acid is is just a recommended not to be used in day to day life or in daily processes like washing of metal sinks because of the highly explosive behaviour  possessed by the acid.
  • It can damage the the sync it is applied to completely by burning the surface and ruining the metal structure.
  • And also it can cause severe burns to a person who has been using it in washing the surface if even a drop of it falls on the skin.
  • Therefore such acids are recommended to be handled very carefully  in labs only.
