Explanation:

bacterial viruses or bacteriophage ( viruses they infect bacteria) usually have double stranded DNA .They only carry the ribosomal information that is needed for nucleic acid replication and the synthesis of the protein coat i.e capsomere . the replication in bacteriophage is LYTIC /LYSOGENEIC CYCLE .

  • the bacterial cells are lysed and destroyed after the replication of virion ( nucleic acid in virus).
  • this viral genome integrates with the host DNA and replicates along it and establish a plasmid ( extracellular DNA which helps in survival in extreme conditions ) .
  • and it gains nutrition and in endogenous / prophase they reproduce to form a virus cell by lysing the host cell .

an example of this LYSOGENEIC cycle is lambda phage in Escheresis Coli ( E. coli)
