- it consists of a fully permeable cell wall made up of cellulose and pectin
- it's major part is covered by a large centrally placed vacuole in which food and other material is stored
- the nucleus is shifted towards the periphery
- it consits of double membranous plastids of three types namely
- chloroplast= stores green coloured pigment called chlorophyll
- chromoplast= stores all coloured pigment except green
- leucoplast = stores courless pigment
