Hi friend,
A neuron or nerve cell has the following components:
1) Cell body or cyton: It is the broad, rounded part of the neuron which contains nucleus, cytoplasm and various cellular organelles. It also contains Nissl granules.
2) Dendrites: These are fine, short and branched protoplasmic processes of the cell body which pick up the sensations and transmit them to the cell body.
3) Axon: It is a long fibre like cytoplasmic process that carries impulse away from the cell body. Axon is branched terminally and the terminals are often knob like. Axons are generally covered by a myelin sheath.
