If no of students =x

if no of rows=y

and from given:

total student=xy

xy=(x+4) (y-2)

xy=(x-4) (y+4)

Solving the above

X=12

Y=8

Hence total number of students=12x8=96

the answer is 96

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of students in a row, be x and the total number of rows be y. Then,

Total number of students in the class = xy

(x + 4) (y - 2) = xy

xy - 2x + 4y - 8 = xy

=> 2x - 4y = -8

=> x - 2y = -4

And (x - 4) (y + 4) = xy

xy + 4x - 4y - 16 = xy

=> 4x - 4y = 16

=> x - y =4

Subtracting (i) from (ii) we get y = 8

Putting y = 8 in (ii), we get x = 12

Hence, total number of students in the class = xy = (12 * 8) = 96
